This is an octagonal Wa Style Handle made for Japanese style kitchen knives.
The body is made from claro walnut with a Buffalo horn ferrule. This handle uses a natural piece of walnut that has not been stabilized to keep the handle a lighter weight. Walnut is one of those woods that does not require stabilizing.
medium sized, it is suited for 180-210mm Japanese knives.

Handle is sanded to 600 grit and then coated in 5-6 coats of sealer for longer protection.
Care :
Hand wash with soapy water and towel dry.
Do not put in dishwasher, nor soak in water for long periods of time.
Oil on a fairly regular basis, or sand with 0000 steel wool and reapply a sealer like tru-oil as needed.
