Snakes Illustration Print by Elena Pavlovna Gertik

This snake illustration draws from the work of Russian artist Elena Pavlovna Gertik, whose distinctive style graced children's books and colouring albums throughout the early 20th century. Gertik had a gift for capturing intricate detail with warmth—these serpents are rendered with such precision that they feel both naturalistic and gently decorative, never harsh or intimidating.

What makes Gertik's work endure is its versatility. There's no reason this print belongs only in a nursery; the composition and soft colour palette work beautifully in a living space, study, or kitchen. It's the kind of illustration that rewards a second glance, whether you're five or fifty.

Printed on 230gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks that resist fading for decades, this reproduction respects the quality of the original. Available in four sizes from A4 up to A1, it pairs well as a standalone piece or grouped with other vintage animal prints. Frame it in natural oak, black, white, or gold ornate—or leave it unframed and display it rolled or mounted—and it settles into your wall like it's always belonged there.
