Vintage French Target Practice Poster Print

This French target practice print has a story most wall art simply can't match. Originally created in late nineteenth-century France by the Wissembourg printing house of C. Burckhardt, it served a distinctly practical purpose—as an archery target for military training. Soldiers aimed at the exaggerated, commanding figures rendered in bold lithographic colour, which makes the directness and raw energy of the imagery feel entirely deliberate rather than decorative.

That genuine historical provenance sets it apart. There's no pastiche here, just a real artefact with genuine purpose built into every line. It works brilliantly as bar wall art where its martial heritage feels at home, or as a conversation-starting piece in a kitchen or study where its oddball charm becomes the focal point.

We've printed it on 230gsm fine art paper using archival pigment inks that'll stay true for decades, and it arrives rolled in a protective tube ready to hang. Choose from A4 right through to 70x100cm, then add a frame in black, white, natural oak or gold if you'd like, or keep it unframed for that bold, gallery aesthetic. Whether you're building vintage kitchen wall art or something with genuine historical bite, this one carries the weight of its original mission.
