Vintage French Target Practice Poster Print

This French target practice poster was made for real—a genuine late-nineteenth-century lithograph from C. Burckhardt's Wissembourg printing house, originally designed for military archery training. Those exaggerated, shouting figures aren't decorative flourishes; they were meant to be aimed at. That honest, purposeful oddness is precisely what makes it so visually magnetic today.

The composition crackles with energy: bold typography, dramatic human figures, and that distinctly aged background create something far more arresting than a standard poster. It's an image that makes you stop and look twice—the kind of historical collectible that's become genuinely sought-after precisely because it refuses to apologise for its strange, functional origins.

We've printed it on 230gsm fine art paper with archival pigment inks that'll hold their character for decades. Available from A4 up to 70×100cm, and it works brilliantly framed in black, white, oak or gold. Whether you're after distinctive bar wall art or something with personality for kitchen prints, this one brings genuine historical intrigue without feeling like a gimmick—just a strange, confident relic of the past doing exactly what it was built to do.
